- Check how many marks are needed for 80%, 70% and 60%.
Formula
Example
950 marks out of 1200 is 79.17%, which is grade A in the traditional BISE scheme. You would need 960 marks for 80% (A+).
Grades in the traditional scheme
- A+ : 80% and above
- A : 70% to 79%
- B : 60% to 69%
- C : 50% to 59%
- D : 40% to 49%
- E : 33% to 39%
- Below 33% in a subject is a fail
Improving marks
Most boards allow students to appear again to improve marks in selected subjects. Check your board’s rules and dates, since improved marks may be counted differently for some admissions.
Planning for admissions
Medical and engineering admissions use a weighted aggregate of Matric, FSc and the entry test. Use the MDCAT and entry test aggregate calculators to see how much each part matters.

Frequently asked questions
Why is my total 1200 and my friend’s 1100?
Boards have changed their schemes over the years and include different subjects. Use the total printed on your own result card.
How do I calculate percentage for Part I only?
Choose the total for that part (often 550) or type your own total.
Do universities use percentage or marks?
Most admission formulas use marks ÷ total, which is the same as percentage. Use the entry test aggregate calculator for the full formula.
